MESSAGE FROM BANIE OOSTENDURP
SEESA LABOUR NAMIBIA’S OPERATIONAL DIRECTOR

“SEESA entered the Namibian market in March 2008 after meeting with Namibian business owners and conducting in-depth market research which revealed that employers in Namibia urgently required a comprehensive and specialised labour consulting service.

“The Labour Act of 2007 is scheduled to become operational in August 2008 with the launch of the new Labour Court and Arbitration system. We see this as a positive step as it is aimed at streamlining dispute resolution and at reducing the length of time consumed by labour judgments in the current District Labour Courts.

“We encourage all employers to join SEESA as our research has shown that most Namibian businesses don’t even have employee contracts in place.

“We will get all your labour practices in order and assist you with all your labour needs: from contracts to strike resolution. You pay a once-off joining fee and a highly affordable monthly retainer, which includes all our services, with no extra charge.

“In our first five months of operation we signed up 400 Namibian clients. Our goal is to achieve a client base of at least 50% of Namibia’s 52 000 business owners.

“Our success is attributed to our commitment to service excellence, affordable product, our highly professional team, our guarantee, our on-site service and the location of our offices throughout Namibia.

We currently have offices in Windhoek, Swakopmund, Keetmanshoop and Tsumeb, with new offices opening in the near future.

We encourage you to find out what we have to offer and to compare our product, service and fees with other labour consultants. We look forward to having you as a client and moving into the future of well-managed labour together.”

THE SEESA STORY
Our origins tell our story.

SEESA was established in 1998 by Gideon Gerber, who still leads it today and who is a shareholder of SEESA Labour Namibia.

“In the late nineties I saw the need for an employer’s organisation to address the labour issues of the South African employer, particularly the smaller South African business,” says Gerber who was a labour lawyer in Pretoria at the time.

“While the unions were well structured, there was nothing to properly protect smaller employers faced with complex employment contracts, labour laws, strikes, negotiations, disciplinary enquiries and disputes.

“There were also far too many hidden costs in the services offered by existing labour consultancies – which the smaller business could not afford.”

“The outcome was SEESA, which charged a monthly fee without any additional costs whatsoever. It was a unique approach and we are proud to confirm this founding philosophy of our business has never changed.”

WHAT CONSTITUTES THE SMALLER BUSINESS?

SEESA: Small Enterprise Employers of South Africa

SEESA was established to assist the smaller business in all labour matters.

The term ‘smaller business’ is misleading because it includes anything from 1 to 2 000-plus employees. The nature of a business, rather than its number of employers, often defines its size.

For example, a thriving firm of five architects is not ‘smaller’ than a factory with 1 000 employees.

At SEESA we prefer to define the smaller business as any business that does not have an effective, well-qualified internal legal and human resources team. Accordingly, our clients range from farmers to professionals to entrepreneurs.

SMALL OR LARGE

Managing all your labour requirements:

The most common labour problems are poor performance, disciplinary enquiries and theft. SEESA manages these and all other labour problems for you, irrespective of how small or large the matter might be. SEESA also offers full representation in all labour court and arbitration matters.
